Why Media were pleased to be invited to attend this year's MODX conference.  It was the first time everyone could attend an event since the pandemic prevented the last conference scheduled to take place in Germany.  Everyone in attendance was pleased with other MODX creators.

Taking place in the eternal city and Italy’s Capital Rome, Why Media was ideally located for attendance with a large presence in northern and southern Europe.  

The conference kicked off in a quintessentially Italian manner, with an apperitivo and introductory talks.  It was a great opportunity for Why Media being, among other fields, the UK’s leading MODX development team to catch up with the MODX community.  We hadn’t met with the Dutch agency Sterc and the German agency SEDA.digital since we attended the Amsterdam conference back in early 2019.  Why Media was also pleased to be introduced to other experts in our field, including one of the main conference sponsors Rome based agency Relactions.

The event then moved into the conference room where the first talk began.  The initial talk held by Sterc was focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how everyone can use it to improve productivity, whilst also discussing the important questions that need addressing surrounding potential privacy, ethics and copyright concerns.  Notably, we looked at Microsoft’s Copilot.  Since Microsoft’s acquisition of a large chunk of Open AI a few years ago they have been rapidly building tools to support development teams.

The next talk focused on a recent and relatively new development in the MODX eco-system, Fenom.  Fenom will allow us to drastically improve loading times and website performance by freeing up database resources and preventing unnecessary processing and database calls.

After more discussions (and drinks!) we went into the final talk.  This was a case study into how MODX had allowed the flexibility to restructure and optimise a whole warehouse and distribution network.  A story told time over.  MODX gives you the freedom to create any website or web-based application.  Allowing unlimited possibilities to optimise your company processes.

Once the talks had commenced we all moved to the roof terrace to enjoy some of Italy’s finest wines and entrees.  With spectacular views over Rome, specifically Vatican City’s St. Peter's Basilica, it was the perfect conclusion to a great MODX Meetup.
