Award-winning design and marketing agency, Why Media is seeking a passionate and detail-focused website developer to join their fast-paced, ambitious team.
The role, which will require you to work daily from our Hertford, Hertfordshire office, is perfect for somebody who is looking to be challenged, enhance their front-end and back-end development skills and be part of a dynamic team who like to deliver the highest quality work and always strive to improve their abilities.
At Why Media, we only deliver tailor-made solutions for our clients; therefore, all of our work, from websites and branding to digital campaigns, is bespoke for each client.
The ideal candidate for this position will be an experienced full-stack developer with a strong understanding of HTML, JavaScript, CSS, SASS and PHP. Knowledge of Ubuntu-based LAMP stack server environments is also necessary.
They will also understand the importance of SEO and consider this when developing their websites. Being a problem-solver and having a forward-thinking approach to development is imperative as you will be responsible for solving technical issues and ensuring we learn from them in future.
Most of our websites are built using the MODX CMS. The ideal candidate would read into this before the contract’s start date, allowing them to familiarise themselves.
The selected candidate will meet the following criteria
- Excellent full-stack development programming
- Strong understanding of HTML, JavaScript, CSS, SASS and PHP
- Comfortable writing code
- Experience with third-party API integration
- Experience in technical SEO updates
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of MODX (Preferred but not essential)
- Excellent written English
- Ability to communicate with clients from a technical standpoint but in Lemans terms
- Ability to pick up new techniques quickly
- Able to identify potential technical issues and resolve them quickly
- Comfortable working both in a team and individually
- Experience working to tight deadlines
- Aware of International web standards, protocols and compliance
- Passionate and enthusiastic
- Able to show initiative and a team player approach to working
The role will include but may not be limited to the following responsibilities
- Website snagging and bug fixes
- Website updates via the Content Management System (MODX)
- Server management
- Email set-up
- The back-end and front-end coding
- API sourcing and integration
- Keeping up to date on new development trends and features
- Training clients on the content management system
- CMS upgrades
- Adding creativity to all projects
- Attending team meetings and brainstorming sessions
- Adding ideas during the design stages
- Researching new ideas and sharing them with the team
- Ensuring Why Media’s website is supporting the company from a commercial standpoint
- Coding of data feedback and competition forms
- Development of wayfinding and bespoke software for clients
This role perfectly suits somebody with experience working in a development role, Freelance or within an Agency.
