Why Media has opened up an exciting opportunity for a Retail Marketing Manager to work on one of their flagship shopping centre projects in the heart of Finestrat, Alicante in Spain.  

The role, which will see you based full time within the shopping centre, is ideal for somebody who has studied Business, Marketing or Journalism at University and has some experience working within an agency or Marketing department but is looking for a new challenge and progression. 

Founded in 2010, Why Media has been delivering high quality, bespoke Design, Marketing, PR and Events for clients within professional services, commercial and residential property market and retail property market for ten years. 

As a Retail Marketing Manager, you will be part of a proactive, career-minded team responsible for delivering exciting, unique and results-driven campaigns, events and initiatives for clients both in the UK and Internationally. Although the main team will be located in the UK, you will have daily contact with all team members via video call and telephone. Other members of the project team will also be on-site monthly.

Your previous experience within education and work will have ensured that you are highly organised and structured, allowing you to work efficiently to the  highest standard possible. 

To be suitable for this role you must be fluent both originally and written in Spanish and English, to a standard where you can easily switch between languages and present to our clients in both languages easily and clearly. 

Your role as Retail Marketing Manager will see you liaising with the client, the asset managers and retailers on a daily basis. Therefore, your communication abilities must be outstanding. This role offers diversity and will include, but is not limited to, the following:



  • Creating and delivering marketing strategies (encompassing online and offline) 

  • Setting and delivering ambitious KPIs 

  • Creating engaging online content for every social media platform, both in  Spanish and English

  • Annual and seasonal strategies

  • Good understanding of SEO

  • Creating analytical reports 

  • Facebook Insights, Instagram Insights, Twitter Insights and MailChimp

  • A strong understanding of GDPR

  • Attending and managing on-site events 

  • Creating and distributing press releases

  • Building local press relationships 

  • Setting out creative briefs

  • Database management and growth 

  • Creating and leading presentations to the asset owners/retailers

  • Translation - Spanish to English/English to Spanish 

  • Daily conference calls with the UK team 

  • Identifying new forward-thinking initiatives

  • Keeping an eye on award opportunities

  • Creating video storyboards and liaising with the video team

  • Keeping on top of trends

As a core member of Why Media, you will also be expected to think commercially - Understanding that projects must be completed on time, within budget and to the best standard possible. Additionally, all team members are expected to identify potential new clients and do all they can to drive new business. 

As a Marketing Manager, you will work closely with and report to the Marketing Director who will help you deliver your goals and help you to progress your position. However, although they will be on hand to support you, this role will suit somebody who is able to use their own initiative, research and solve problems independently.
