Why Media's Self-Love Campaign Flourishes at The Heart Shopping Centre

In February, the Why Media marketing department, which manages and delivers a full-service marketing approach for The Heart Shopping Centre in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, launched an inclusive campaign that took a different stance on Valentine’s Day.

Although a Shopping Centre that ultimately wants to drive footfall and revenue by selling products, Why Media wanted to ensure that the season of love focused on everybody, not just couples and those in relationships. 

To achieve this goal, Why Media launched a self-love campaign which included an influencer collaboration that positioned The Heart as a location to spend some quality time with yourself and a manifestation tree, This installation, which was located within a prominent location of the Centre, encouraged visitors to take a minute to stop a write a short note about the positive things they were manifesting for 2024.

Claire White, Agency Partner at Why Media, shared her thoughts, stating, ‘We wanted to do something different this year for the Valentine’s Day season that embraced an inclusive approach to the season of love. The Centre’s installation proved the be incredibly popular, with several visitors stopping to take pictures even whilst it was being installed. We were overwhelmed with the number of tags completed, all with some fantastic positive messages.’



There Were Over 400 Tags Written And Hung Up On The Manifestation Tree

Why Media has been delivering marketing services for The Heart Shopping Centre since it opened in 2007, taking over the full marketing budget, which includes; brand management, website management, SEO, social media, email marketing, public relations, consumer-focused events, retailer liaison and much more, in 2017. As part of the agency’s role at The Heart, they get the pleasure of working with many national brands, including; PizzaExpress, Waterstones, Rock Up, Gymfinity Kids, Next, EE and many more. 

This recent campaign also saw Why Media collaborate with a social media influencer, an advocate of mental health and well-being @salisworld, who attended the Centre and created a video highlighting all of the things visitors can do to take some time for themselves at the Centre.

This campaign reached in excess of 150,000 people, all of whom are located within the Centre’s primary and secondary catchment areas.
