Why Media Leads Successful Consumer Event to Celebrate The King’s Coronation.

Why Media is proud to announce that on Monday, the 8th of May, a memorable event on behalf of their client, The Heart Shopping Centre in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, was organised to celebrate the King's Coronation. 

The objective of this event was to bring the local community together to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III with fun activities, all of which would be free of charge.

Named “A Royal Extravaganza”, this event, which was 100% organised and managed by the Why Media team, included various activities aimed at families. These included; glitter tattoos, a meet and greet with Cinderella and Prince Charming, a prize draw and the first Great Walton Bake-Off.


The first Great Walton Bake-Off was a huge success. 

Claire White, Agency Partner and one of the organisers of the event commented, “We wanted to offer something fun and unique to the Centre and therefore made the decision to create “The Great Walton Bake-Off”. Using a register your interest data form, we were able to gauge the popularity of this event, as well as manage the number of entries. We were overwhelmed with people want amazing parties amazing. We have been organising and managing consumer-focused events at The Heart Shopping Centre since 2018, and we are always amazed at how popular they are. Our Royal Extravaganza attracted over 300 families, which is generally the average number of visitors we get at similar events.

To ensure retailers had to opportunity to participate, we also invited them to be the judges of the bake-off, again, a very popular initiative.”


Why Media has been managing consumer-focused events for over 10 years. 

This was the third main event that Why Media organised and managed at The Heart Shopping Centre in 2023, attracting over 1,000 families in total. 

Mark Middleton, The Heart Shopping Centre Manager, said “I can’t praise Why Media enough for their dedication, commitment and hard work both in the weeks leading up to the event and on the day itself. We were blown away by the number of people that attended, we are so pleased with the positive response on social media that it continued to generate, even after the event was over. 

We haven’t seen such big crowds gather in the centre like this for a long time, and we hope all visitors had a pleasant and enjoyable day out here at The Heart Shopping Centre”


Meet and greet events have proven popular in 2023.
