Why Media Delivers Progressive Rebrand and Website for Established Law Firm CDS Mayfair

Why Media, a leading design and marketing agency, is proud to announce its recent collaboration with Charles Douglas Solicitors in creating a progressive rebrand and website.

The project's objective was to deliver a progressive step for Charles Douglas Solicitors (CDS Mayfair) into a digital world following the pandemic, which slingshot law firms into embracing digital marketing, an industry that has until recently been highly dependent upon networking events to deliver new business. 

CDS Mayfair, formerly Charles Douglas Solicitors, sought to take a modern approach to the traditional nature of law by adding a contemporary twist to its brand. The rebrand included a rephrase of the name to CDS Mayfair, and a streamlined approach to their branding aimed at appealing to high-net-worth individuals in the UK and abroad.

Claire White, Agency Partner at Why Media, had this to say about the rebrand. “Although the rebrand is incredibly subtle, it has hit with impact, adding a new modern edge to this one of Mayfair's most established and well-renowned law firms while holding onto its heritage and remaining approachable. Following a consultation with the project team and partners, a decision was made to shorten the existing name “Charles Douglas Solicitors” to “CDS Mayfair”. In my opinion, this has been a master stroke. Many of CDS Mayfair’s clients are located overseas and may not have an English mother tongue. Therefore, the rephrased name makes it easier to recall and pronounce, and therefore approachable.”

As part of the rebrand, Why Media delivered a comprehensive set of brand guidelines to protect the brand investment for years to come. A branding suite, including business cards, letterheads and email footers, where also provided by Why Media’s in-house Graphic Design department. 

Why Media and CDS Mayfair’s collaboration did not stop there, as the team also longed for a user-friendly, informative website that represented the team's wealth of knowledge and experience.

The previous website of CDS Mayfair needed to be updated and offer an optimal viewing experience for mobile users, the site offered unengaging content and a user experience unfamiliar to many. 

Why Media was tasked with creating a user-friendly website that offered a clear route to their wide range of legal services, appealing to the target audience and providing useful information and resources to clients, as well as the user experience, one of the objectives was to ensure the website supported specific searches on platforms like Google and offered a simple back-end system that would allow for efficient website updates in-house.

Not only did the previous site not support responsive technology and made navigating the site challenging, but it was not supportive of SEO (Search Engine Optimisation). This project saw us work extremely closely with core members of the CDS Mayfair team to ensure the site supported the team's expectations but also worked well in supporting business growth.


The new website offers a progressive step for CDS Mayfair.
