With the cost of living crisis impacting all of us, especially at Christmas time. Families on the lowest incomes are being forced to make impossible decisions and struggles with day to day necessities. Why Media and Austin homes came up with a campaign to give back to the community and ensure no one in the local community has to go hungry. We purchased a selection of food, toiletries and cleaning products to help those that need it this winter. Foodbanks give three days of emergency food to local people in crisis and enable communities to help each other and this can really make a difference to people lives.
Lucy Loughrey, Digital Content Creator, had this to say about the donation; “Christmas is a difficult time for many people and with the current situation it is especially important to try and give back to those that need it. Coming up with this campaign for Austin Homes was a great way to give back to the community and provide for those that need it during this time. I would encourage those that can donate to do so, as it will allow organisations such as The Trussell Trust to give everyone referred to them a balanced and nutritious supply of food."
Thinking of helping the community this Xmas? Donations are extremely important to these organisations with 90% of all donations coming from the general public, so help is always required. In order to make sure that no one in our community has to go hungry, more people need to help make this happen. Whether it is donating money or visiting the warehouse centres and dropping of food donations, a real difference can be made. Most needed items include jars of jam, tinned fruit, baked beans, shower gel, long life juice, soups and toilet roll.
