December is always an exciting time in the creative world of design and colour as we all eagerly await Pantone’s announcement to see who will be crowned “Pantone colour of the year”.
What is Viva Megenta?
Viva Magenta, or 18-1750 for those in creative industries, is a vibrant and impactful shade which descends from the red family, expressing strength and passion. The team at Pantone has awarded Viva Magenta as their colour of the year to spread vibrancy and power and to add a sense of optimism to a currently struggling world.

In this age of technology, we look to draw inspiration from nature and what is real. PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta descends from the red family. It is inspired by the red of cochineal, one of the most precious dyes belonging to the natural dye family and one of the strongest and brightest the world has known.
