'How the United Kingdom and EU can thrive after Brexit' with a little effort!

Post-Brexit was always predicted to be a turbulent period for the UK and EU, despite many concerns, there is evidence to suggest that business between the UK and Europe can continue and is thriving Post-Brexit.


Results of the 2016 United Kingdom European Union membership referendum showed 17,410,742 votes to leave and 16,141,241 to remain, a margin of 1,269,501 votes.

The benefits for the UK, by deciding to leave the EU, suggests an exciting and positive future for UK businesses and citizens. Although there was plenty of debate and controversy with regards to the departure, the established independence by the UK conveys a sense of potential and opportunity. More specifically, the decision is considered ambitious for the UK because it will become its own sovereign state again and not be bound by rules and regulations that are made by an unelected entity. Furthermore, a sense of control over an abundance of things is established, from our democracy to our money as well as borders and waters; we regain independence and consequently become bolder and reap more benefits. 

In contrast, for the EU, they can now continue to push forwards with their federated super-state agenda without a major resistance. Furthermore, they can advance on approaching America and China and attempt at becoming a major economic global player. 


The UK Goverment has had a patchy relationship with the EU but it will be all change ahead from September 2022 with a new british Prime Minister (Most likely) Liz Truss. 

The UK and the many EU member states now have agreements to ensure a level playing field is established such as The Trade and Cooperation agreement. The agreements imply a cooperation that many people hesitated to believe would be formed. A prime example of this is the recent announcement of the  French Satellite company, Eutelsat Communications and its monumental agreement with UK rival OneWeb. In 2020, the UK government took a big stake in Oneweb of around £400m.The agreement established an all-share merger with OneWeb to create "a leading global player in connectivity". Ultimately, the goal is to approach more well-established companies such as  Starlink in an attempt to join forces as well as other larger American tech companies. This decision proves how big partnerships and mergers are continuing business between the UK and EU. Furthermore, The deal values OneWeb at $3.4bn (£2.83bn). The UK government made a $500m (£415.55m) investment in OneWeb two years ago, and so “will now have a significant stake in what will become a single, powerful, global space company, working on the sound financial footing needed to make the most of the technological advantages it has to compete in the highly-competitive global satellite industry, against companies around the world," a government statement said. Consequently, such decisions and successful business decisions,  put to rest the questions and concerns born from scare campaigns dubbed “project fear” with regards to opposing views of the referendum.  Instead, it's a public and global example that shows the UK Government flexing its spending power, commitment to technology and leading by example to continue to partner with our EU neighbours.
