So Mr Johnson is gone, how did we get here?

Recent uproar has been sparked in British Politics as the sly lies surrounding the Government's lockdown antics began to unravel, and quickly as his reputation plummeted (even further in some people’s eyes) Boris Johnson’s position as Prime Minister quickly appeared untenable. Although nobody could doubt some of his efforts and success as Prime Minister.

Our Prime Minister was sadly fined for breaking his own laws (despite home and office being the same environment) was a poor position to be in and soon gained international attention. The party was led by someone some of the British public despised (Mr Johnson did achieve a landslide victory with 14m votes). Soon he found himself stuck under water, in the rain.

Boris’ ability to appear above the law reminded us of the hierarchical injustices within our society and proved that they remain so prevalent in our institutions today. At a similar time to Boris’ crimes, a family friend who worked as a driving instructor unknowingly drifted into a bus lane, received three points on his licence and consequently lost his job. He was forced to face the reality of letting his profession slip, and was immediately held accountable. Directly juxtaposing this is the continuation of Boris’ position at prime minister despite the physical evidence exposed to the British public, and then the rest of the world, of him actively breaching COVID regulations and socialising at a time when the rest of us were imprisoned in our own homes. The inequitable treatment of a normal working class person compared to the prime minister was exposed and felt by many.

Boris Johnson MP could make a comeback in 2023! Did the war with the BBC create a fall for the Prime Minister?

Back to real world issues and Boris finally resigning is a relief for some in the country and proves no one is truly above the law. At last, the Government can reform and concentrate on the looming costs of living crisis, the war in Ukraine and a multitude of other issues that hold so much more importance than the blatant lies and deception of a man who failed to follow his own guidance. Positively, as a result, marketing can take back its space in people’s minds and businesses can focus on innovative ways to solve the global supply chain issues.
