Why Media are pleased to announce a giant step forward with the upgrade to MODX 3.0 from May 2022.
Q2 of 2022 is bringing excitement to the MODX world with the official rollout of MODX 3.0. MODX is the CMS of choice for Why Media’s technical team; Which praises its security, SEO, website performance and customisability benefits.
Carl Piper, Why Media’s Technical Projects Lead explains “The production release of MODX 3.0 is an exciting time for Why Media. It has been a long time coming. We first began playing with an early version of MODX 3.0 during our attendance at the spring 2019 MODX conference in Amsterdam. After scrutinous testing, we are putting our first MODX 3.0 site into production. We hope to begin moving current client websites over in the coming weeks as we iron out transition bugs”.
MODX 3 brings a plethora of new features and improvements offering something new for our clients in London and Europe.
A refreshed admin interface
This will be the most noticeable change for webmasters. You will notice a modern, refined interface in which the manager pages speed has been boosted. The enhanced resource creation process allows you to set up the important information prior to creation, a far smoother experience.

For the developers
The majority of the MODX codebase has been rewritten and modernised, bringing performance and security benefits across the board. Composer has been built into the core allowing for dependencies to be autoloaded.
Improved media browser now using Flysystem, all core files are also now forbidden from being edited or removed.
There are new output modifiers built-in related to files dirname, basename, filename, extensions.
Keep an eye out on our social channels for updates on the new websites we set live, which from now will all be built using MODX 3.
