With every challenging time comes the opportunity for an aspiring new company to take centre stage and the creation of Easym is no exception.
During the first national lockdown in 2020, Why Media was approached, following a recommendation from an existing client, by Matthew Barrett who was looking to create a modern and approachable mortgage broker.
With an aspiration for his new company to be more fun, approachable and engaging than those currently on the market but at the same time delivering a compliant, efficient and professional service, the Why Media team knew that this was an opportunity to combine traditional values with modern technology and creativity.
The Creative Team at Why Media started this project by conducting in-depth research into the mortgage market to ensure our approach for Easym was unique and innovative. To deliver the objective of “approachable” a decision was made to create a family of characters, each to be used throughout the website and marketing to allow the brand to be identified and associated easily. These characters, created by Why Media Artworker, Becky Surridge, were carefully handcrafted before being digitally enhanced.
Matthew Hancocks, Senior Graphic Designer, worked alongside Becky as they built the brand assets ahead of a company launch. These included an identifiable, modern brand identity alongside a vibrant and engaging colour suite.
While the Creative Team put together the brand components to cover both online and offline initiatives, the Marketing Team for the project, led by Angelina Patterson, got to work at creating a comprehensive Marketing Strategy focused on driving interest and intrigue ahead of launch and then ensuring the company launched with a bang when it was ready.
Angelina Patterson explained: “Easym’s marketing strategy focuses on showcasing the simplicity of using them as your Mortgage Broker against others in the marketplace. Many people, including myself, become overwhelmed and confused during the homebuying process, especially if it’s your first property. Easym’s focus is to take away the confusion by clearly explaining the process in Layman's terms rather than the common buzzwords and jargon usually experienced.''
Our strategy has several fragments to ensure we are reaching all of Easym’s target audiences - first-time buyers, existing homeowners looking for a new mortgage and those in the remortgage market. It’s been a fascinating project and it is so exciting to see the brand evolve. I personally love working with clients who embrace creativity and ideas so it’s been a real pleasure working alongside Matthew.
