WHY MEDIA SHORTLISTED FOR REVO PURPLE APPLE AWARD 2020

The most prestigious awards within the retail sector, Why Media is delighted to have beens shortlisted for a REVO Purple Apple Award 2020 for their video production and digital marketing work at Woking Shopping. 

Taking place on the 22nd April 2020, The REVO Purple Apple Awards are the only awards which recognise and reward effective retail destination marketing within the UK retail property sector. 

With more than 200 shopping centres in the UK, these awards are an opportunity for asset managers, shopping centre owners and marketing agencies to stand out from the competition and showcase their forward thinking initiatives and the results they delivered. 

Woking TV, which is the video brand for Woking Shopping, Surrey’s largest undercover shopping centre boasting 150 stores, restaurants, six-screen cinema and theatre, has been shortlisted for the “Tactical Marketing Communications” award. 

 

 

The concept, which originally launched in 2015 saw the shopping centre work together with a local presenter to promote stores, products, events and competitions within the shopping centre. Lasting up to 2-minutes per video, they gave quick snippets of information that time shot viewers were able to digest easily. Although the concept was innovative and not seen across any other shopping centres during this time, it lacked retailer participation and online engagement, resulting in a rethink and relaunch. 

Following a relaunch in 2019, with a new brand, new structure and targeted digital campaign to accompany it, Why Media focused on driving new retailer engagement and building online views through YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and, the Woking Shopping website.

Since then, Why Media has seen a 40% increase in the number of retailers signing up to take part in Woking TV. These include some of the high street’s largest brands such as; Primark, Debenhams, New Look and Pandora - who’s video generated more views than their official collection launch video! 

Claire White, Marketing Director at Why Media explains: “The decision to put Woking TV forward for the Tactical Marketing Communications Purple Apple Award was taken based on the outstanding growth we have seen, not only in view numbers but also the number of retailers now wanted to take part. We are confident that our return on investment is strong and that this initiative really will stand out from others entering the category.”

The Purple Apple Awards 2020 will take place on the 22nd April in London where we are all crossing our fingers and toes that Woking Shopping will be awarded the “Tactical Marketing Communications” award for 2020.

Why Media were delighted to launch the new brand identity and website for ACAI Group, a property investment company with a number of high profile commercial, retail and land assets across the UK.

These assets include 8-10 Grafton Street in Mayfair, The Heart Shopping Centre in Walton-on-Thames Surrey and, the flagship store for high-end retail brand Dior on the prestigious Bond Street. The objective of the branding and creative element of this project was to inject colour, depth and a story behind the brand identity and overall messaging of ACAI (the initials of which represent the three owners of the company). Following completion of the branding process, Why Media delivered a full stationery package including business cards, letterheads and compliment slips and a comprehensive set of brand guidelines, ensuring the brand identity and reputation are protected through a stringent set of ‘brand rules’.
