Earlier in the year, Why Media was appointed by SMRC (Savills Marketing, Commercialisation & Research team) to support the new digital presence for East Gate, a regional leisure complex located in the heart of Llanelli, South Wales.
Following a rebranding exercise, Why Media was asked to create a new website for East Gate, complete with the latest responsive technology to allow for the increasing demand from those using mobiles and tablets to view website information. In addition, the website also required the integration of a content management system.

The website hosts a clean and consistent look and feel which is easy to navigate allowing visitors to find out the information they require quickly and easily. A number of innovative features have been integrated into the website including the latest responsive technology allowing the site to function correctly on all Internet enabled devices. Each tenant has their own page allowing the site to be effective on search.”
East Gate Llanelli hosts a number of tenants including Odeon Cinema, Travelodge Llanelli Central,Cadwaladers, Ladbrokes, Nando’s Spar, The Red Room Sports Bar and more.
Following the launch of the website, Why Media set up a brand new social media presence for East Gate on Facebook and Twitter. This has allowed East Gate Llanelli to communicate and engage with the local area and tenants thus increasing awareness of what is on offer at the centre.
To launch the new social media accounts Why Media, alongside many of the tenants launched a competition to ‘win a free day out at East Gate’. Claire White, Account Director for Why Media explains; “ One of the key objectives for East Gate was to increase the database and the number of people engaging with the centre. Why Media liaised with a number of the tenants to create an engaging social competition to win a number of prizes from the likes of Nando’s, Travelodge,Jenkins Bakery and Odeon Cinema. Despite being live for only four days, the competition attracted over 200 entries with a total reach of over 60,000 Facebook users, all of whom located within 15 miles of Llanelli.”
Following an engaging and successful launch campaign and clever messaging, Why Media saw East Gate’s Facebook group reach in excess of 500 fans within two weeks of the account being created.
