The role, which is located in Hertford, Hertfordshire, is perfect for somebody who is looking to be challenged, enhance their front end and back end development skills and be part of a dynamic team who like to deliver the highest quality work and always strive to enhance their abilities.

The ideal candidate for this position will have some experience in back-end programming and have a strong understanding of PHP. They will also understand the importance of SEO and will consider this when developing their websites.  Being a problem solver and having a forward-thinking approach to development is imperative as you will be responsible for solving technical issues and ensuring we learn from them in future. 

This role suits somebody with 1-3 years of experience and an individual who is looking to make website development a career choice within a loyal and passionate team.

The selected candidate will meet the following criteria.

  • Excellent knowledge of back-end programming
  • Strong understanding of PHP
  • Comfortable writing  programming code
  • Experience with third-party API integration
  • Experience coding for SEO
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Experience with Google API's 
  • Knowledge of MODX  (Preferred but not essential)
  • Excellent written English
  • Ability to communicate with clients from a technical standpoint but in Lemans terms
  • Ability to pick up new techniques quickly 
  • Able to identify potential technical issues and resolve them quickly 
  • Confirmable working both as a team and individually 
  • Experience working to tight deadlines 
  • Aware of International web standards and protocol 
  • Passionate and enthusiastic 
  • Able to show initiative and a team player approach to working 

The role will include but may not be limited to the following responsibilities.

  • Website snagging and bug fixes
  • Website updates via the Content Management System, MODX
  • Hosting management 
  • Email set up
  • The back-end and front-end coding
  • API sourcing and integration 
  • Keeping up to date on new development trends and features 
  • Training clients on the content management system 
  • CMS upgrades 
  • Adding creativity to all projects 
  • Attending team meetings and brainstorming sessions
  • Adding ideas during the design stages 
  • Researching new ideas and sharing with the team 
  • Ensuring Why Media’s website is supporting the company from a commercial standpoint 
  • Coding of data feedback and competition forms 
  • Development of wayfinding and bespoke software for clients 

This role is perfectly suited to somebody who has a small amount of experience working within a development role but somebody who is looking for a career within a fast-paced, exciting agency environment. Why Media were delighted to launch the new brand identity and website for ACAI Group, a property investment company with a number of high profile commercial, retail and land assets across the UK.

These assets include 8-10 Grafton Street in Mayfair, The Heart Shopping Centre in Walton-on-Thames Surrey and, the flagship store for high-end retail brand Dior on the prestigious Bond Street. The objective of the branding and creative element of this project was to inject colour, depth and a story behind the brand identity and overall messaging of ACAI (the initials of which represent the three owners of the company). Following completion of the branding process, Why Media delivered a full stationery package including business cards, letterheads and compliment slips and a comprehensive set of brand guidelines, ensuring the brand identity and reputation are protected through a stringent set of ‘brand rules’.

The Heart Shopping Centre magazine is distributed every 6 months, delivering a Summer issue and Christmas issue. The magazine has been crafted to entice customers in the local area to visit the centre. The magazine is updated with each issue to tie in with the branding, event creative and any campaigns that are running and has proven to be a great success.
